Tires for Stock Rally Wheel
« on: October 30, 2012, 12:33:07 am »
I have a question about tire fitment on my 1986 C10 Silverado SWB, 2WD. The truck currently has some aftermarket bullet hole wheels that the previous owner installed that look like absolute heck. The tires currently on the truck are 235/60/15. I have the stock wheels which I have refinished and repainted. Will 275/60/15 tires go on this truck with the stock ride height and the factory 8" rally wheels without sticking out from the fenders? I want something that's going to be wide but not throwing everything off the road straight up the side of some fresh black paint. -_-

I think 275/60/15's look good on these trucks.  I don't happen to have a photo; a search might turn up a photo.

275s should fit and not stick out past the wheel wells. I just put 295/50/r15 tires on the rear of my 83 c10 on a 15x8 steel wheel and they still tuck in ok. Not sure if the front tires would rub when steering though. I will try and post a pic for you.

A stock height truck with 15x8 rally wheels looks good with 255/70R15. Aftermarket wheels I like 275/60's. Check out the two trucks in this thread for an idea of what it looks like:

The 255's are more ballony looking, but suit the truck look well especially with factory stance and wheels. 275's are just a bit wider and shorter and make a truck with a 2-2/4 drop and aftermarket wheels look more sporty.

I have run 275/60/15's on my 87 for the last 8 years without issues.

You can get away with that size up to about 3" drop in the front, 4" will rub.
