2004 5.3/4l60 swap.....does any one know if the purge solenoid valve is suppose to always have vacuum or does that computer kick it on? i have no vacuum on the valve so i can connect the hose to my canister. i tried another solenoid and i do have 12v to the red wire going to it.

It always has vacuum the computer controls the valve to purge the vapor out of the tank..
Does your area require that you keep that?

yes, i have it registered in the county right now but want to change it to my city and pass emissions which means i need to hook up the purge solenoid hose to the carb bowl outlet on the canister but the purge solenoid has no vacuum when the engine is running.

It only has vacuum behind the solenoid, the computer opens it and it pulls in the vapors.  When the solenoid is closed, there is no vacuum.

that is a common part of failing in those chevys. know of two just in a mile of my house. one had rocks of some sort in it. cleaned them out and all is well. dont know if it has anything to do with all the ethanol in the gas or what
