ok, for those of you that remember reading my last thread about using a ford ring on a chevy..... well i did change the ring to a new one... so everything is perfect on the new engine.... i bolted it back in the truck, installed tranny, drive shaft everything... went over everything 2-3 times... you can turn the engine with about 35-40lb of torque in neutral... so that means its nice and smooth... anyways i started to crank the engine to get it up and running to brake it in... then all of a sudden after a few turn some teeth broke off from the flywheel and the starter just spins, i took the starter out and noticed the 3 teeth half broken... how did this happen... i know i can just turn the engine by turning the alternator or directly at the crank and give it another shot... but first i want to make sure it wont happen again... don't want to end up with a toothless flywheel... any ideas why this happened... the flywheel was in great shape when I installed it...
