Getting the mold off
« on: November 27, 2012, 07:52:16 PM »
I purchased my 1974 Cheyenne just a few weeks back. The truck is running pretty well but man this thing really needed some love outside. There is no doubt it spent some time parked under a tree with leaves piling up on the hood. I never thought is would clean up as well as it did. I am going to start on the fenders and cab tomorrow. I will take more pics and let you all see how the elbow grease worked.

These are in order from start to finish on the hood.

I used rubbing compound for the cleaning and then put on a fresh coat of wax.

After the final coat of wax.

The pictures you downloaded did not work.

Sorry about that. I modified the post so the links to images should work now. I will figure this out sooner or later.

I used Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound for the cleaning and then put on a coat of Meguiar's Wax. Once I hit all the panels with this process, I will probably go back over the whole truck again. I had similar results on a 72 beetle where the paint was really oxidized. It looked like a fresh paint job when all was said and done.

Awesome I used the red coarse rubbing compound on mine. Looks like you had goods results

Now they work, and that looks great compared to what it did.  Great job.
