Gotta love inventing something.

so, i watch a lot of youtube train horn videos and wanted one. But the cost is outrageous. So i went with a 30 dollar budget build.

2 -  2' sticks of 1 1/2" pvc
2 -  1 1/2" to 2" bushing
2 -  2" to 3" couplings
1 -  2' stick of 3" pvc
2 -  3/8's npt to 1/2 barb
1 -  car tire innertube(any size)

Put it all together and i made 2 fully functional, very loud air horns. And i mounted them on the suburban. Just gotta run the hoses, get a valve, and get a compressor. I already have an air tank. I shot 120psi through them and it shock my chest and tickled my eardrums.

Now you have my mind on overdrive. Looks kind of like a potato gun. Mount it in the grille for dual purpose! Kinda sounds like something from Duck Dynasty!

Im going to build a pair for my buddy so when i do ill make a tutorial. I had to use a highlift jack to compress the whole thing together because i used the innertube as a diaphram which makes the sound.

Quick question, does anybody know of a product i can use to condition rubber? The inner tube is stretched A LOT and it has tipped in the past after sitting for a while. I think it dried out and ripped from the tension.

     I will look at work tomorrow, I have a tube made to condition rubber o-rings and it works wonders.  On the horn issue, I would like a video with sound and specks.  Like how far away you are, the amount of air, etc,etc.

I will get a video up in a couple days. Id like to get it all plumbed in on the truck and get the video but i dont know where to get a cheap compressor and i need a valve, looking at going electric so i can keep all of the air lines at the rear. The horns take at least 40 psi to push passed the diaphram and it sounds a little louder than an armpit fart. With 80psi its about as loud as an old school wooga horn. 100psi shakes walls, and 120psi(most ive pushed through it) sounds like a train. I have one video of a single horn waking one of my roomates at 65psi. My other roomate said it shook his bed and he thought he was being hit by a train in his dream. Youll notice in the video that these horns sound more like a ferry horn, deep pitched, then a train horn which is high pitched.

      The tube I use for conditioning o-rings and rubber is called, molykote from Dow Corning.  It says o-ring grease right on the tube but I use it on all kinds of rubber to make soft and flexible.
