Carbs For my 454

I have an 86 454 and I think its time for a new carb. It has the stock quadrajet on it and I was wondering what I would take to change to a holley or an edelbrock carb?

With my eldlebrock 1406 all it took really was buying the carb and an adapter plate.....but I do not have a 700r4 so there is no TV cable, just a kick down

     You have to check for round bore or square ( or get an adaptor plate as mentioned ), and as blazing816 said you have to get the proper transmission and choke stuff. 
     If you call any speed shop around you they should be able to look up both carb's and tell you their part numbers you need for your truck.

Why not rebuild the Quadraject?  They are pretty simple and you know it fits.

How hard is it to set-up after the rebuild? What are some good rebuild kits?

I get all my rebuild kits from any of the local parts stores.  Once you get it rebuilt it is just a matter of adjusting the idle mixture screws, no more that what would be needed for a new one.

I've read about some brass bushing that need to be replaced on the butterflies how hard is it to drill these without a drill press and without messing them up?

Not hard. There is a drill bit that comes in the kit made for us dyi folk
