My grandpa bought my '75 when it was new. Back then, it was an inline-6 with a three-on-the-tree, had a grey and white color scheme, and a hideous (sorry grandpa!) canopy. Now it has a 350/TH400, blue and silver paint, and no canopy. (Although I often wish I hadn't put the tonneau cover on it.) The best thing about my truck is that even though it doesn't look anything like it used to, every time I drive it, I still get that awesome feeling that I'm driving grandpa's truck.
I also get a little pang of guilt every time I call it a 'truck.' He was a truck driver, and to him, that little thing had no right being called something as big and bad as a truck. It was a pick-up. End of story.
Also, something I've heard frequently is "wow...that truck must be a [girl] magnet!" I tell them that it is, unfortunately, they aren't accurately picturing the sort of girl that is attracted to 35 year old trucks. If I'm the only one that happens to, mine must have the rare (and unwanted) optional pretty-girl-repellant feature. Wait.....I just insulted myself, didn't I?
