Early Christmas!
« on: December 20, 2012, 05:25:28 pm »
Guess what I got.  I'll tell you...   Grandad gave my his car.   It's a 2008 Impala with 21k miles on it.  This is the same grandad who gave me my truck!   Guess now I have both his car and truck and do what he did for a living, thats carrying on tradition, ain't it?   ;D

I already owned the tiny trailer, but i bought that for him so we could take his wheelchair with us wherever we went when I was taking care of him.   It's a brand new car still.   21k...  I took him to go buy it.  so i knolw all it's history, only me and my mother have ever driven it.   He gave it to me today out of the blue...  Some time soon when I can get off work, all I want to do is add rims and dark tint.  otherwise just drive it!  Should last forever as I'll only get to drive it once a week (sundays)  since i have to drive the truck 6 days a week for work.

I love my family, my grandad has helped me out so much in my life.  I love him so much!  He's always been my hero as far back as I can remember!

Thanks....  no really...  you made me laugh a lot...  i pictured it...   no, I might at most get 18" rims, leave the paint as it is, though I might add an SS spoiler.

I'm debating between that and 2 cars.  Dunno if I may sell it or not.  For not much more than it's worth I could get a Caddy DTS or a Jag XJ8.  I'm leaning towards the Jag XJ8.

I'm thinking it would be pretty sexy to have my 78 C20, a Jag XJ8 and a Suzuki M109r.   I can now afford all of them., including feeding the 78 C20...lmao!

I want a car like this
This is the sexiest car around to me

For what it's worth, I bet it would mean alot to Grandpa to know you kept it and drove it. It's his way of helping you out. Just be careful about what message you might send if you dint. It would bring a smile to his face everytime he sees it.

yeah 18in rims sounds good... and so does the spoiler... and maybe all you have to do is polish the paint and its going to be looking like a brand new car...

i agree with promisekeeper i think you should keep the car, i think maybe your grandfather might feel somewhat disappointed  if you sell it... if you keep it i guarantee there will be a smile every time he sees the car..

btw.. jags arenīt very good cars.... maintenance is expensive and there are always problems with them... so ive heard....

Sounds to me like your grandfather and you are as they say " two peas in a pod ".  I am glad that you say that you are taking care of him when he needs it.
Are you the only grand child that lives close to him ?

He told me, He wants me to have what I want, If I sell it, All he said is he want to see and get a ride in whatever I trade it off for.

This car none of us got too attatched too, including him.   I told him about the jaguar, he said (put it like an order)  well, if you wana sell my car off and buy that, you better give me a ride in it...  I never rode in a jaguar before... ;D

I'm debating...   I def won't get another car for a while solely because I don't have time to... yet.   I would just sell the car and get myself a suzuki m109r bike, but I want a car to drive while I'm off work.  I'd be extremely uncomfortable spending the night at anyone's house in the truck with all my stuff in the back of it, but I don't want to unload all my junk out of the truck unless i absolutely have to...  its a lot of stuff...  Ran across some scales the other day for the heck of it...   Truck usually weighs 5247lbs.   Now it weighs 6893lbs.   I'm toting around 1646lbs of stuff every day.  And the truck doesnt look loaded at all.  I like it!

Perfect scenarion is I work out of the truck, have a car to drive on days off/trips  and a bike later...  because i want it...lol

There used to be an old volkswagen commercial...   the younger man was taking his grandpa out for a trip, it was like he broke him out...   Thats kinda me n grandads style.  I know he don't care what they say...  I have to some since I live next door to my mother, so i cant break the rules too severely.   you know the old saying "If mommas not happy nobody else is"   :)

The more I thougt about it, I'm keeping the impala.   If i traded it, I'd end up with a high mileage car and kick myself for it later.   I'm not gonna get another 21k car this good for what this ones trade in is worth.   So I'm keeping the impala.  Working on 18" wheels (probably OEM), tint, and maybe a nav system, definately adding some bass.  not too crazy, just more than stock.  I also want to add an SS spoiler to it.

Just took some phone pix of the new stablemates...

I like it Lebowski. ha

Got the day off today because of rain...  not good to be in mud in the rain with electric power tools...lol

So I got the title transfered and all that on my new impala.  Been driving it for 2 mos. before the transfer..  well driving it like 20miles once a week with my work schedule..  I don't drive the truck anymore except for work because I don't want to leave it anywhere I'm not nearby with all the tools in it.  But I still drive it 6 days a week..lol  I also washed the truck today so I took some pics of my new pair...
