How tall should 4" lift be on 1985 4wd 1/2 ton? Fender height??
« on: December 23, 2012, 04:13:42 am »
I have a 1985 Sierra Classic 4wd. I ordered the RC 4" spring lift front and rear. However after I installed it, the truck seems to be a lot taller than I think it should be. I'm thinking I got the 6" instead of the 4". I have 35" tires and was wondering if anyone has a measurement from ground to top of wheel opening/ fender trim edge at the center of opening. Any help with figuring this out will be greatly appreciated.

it will be but once the spring settle you should be close to 4". my truck sat even at first but now the front sits lower than the rear

Do you have a pic to post ?  The 6" lift with 35" tire are going to give you about 3" more room than a 4" lift between top of tire and bottom of fender.

if i remember rightly it was about 43-44. i have 4 inch lift with 17 rims and 35's. you could also measure your blocks you put under your back springs.

I don't know if this helps but I have an 87 Suburban 4x4 and the PO told me it had a 6" lift.  I measured from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender thinking this would reflect the size of the lift without taking tire size into account.  Front hub to fender = 25 1/4"  Rear hub to fender = 24 3/4"  I don't know what the stock height was but if you know that then you would have an idea what a 6" lift gives you.

looks like your caps lock is stuck on. got/had that set up the only problem is tires wear fast so keep them rotated and proper air pressure will help but will make your ride a lot rougher

I have a 4" lift on a 85 stepside with 35" tires and 15" wheels. Give me a minute and I will go measure.
