vin # decode
« on: January 18, 2013, 05:39:14 pm »
I was going over the vin for the c20 that I'm waiting on.The third digit according to numerous sites is the one that designates engine size. That digit is a (Y). Which translated to 350-4. A (V) would have been a 350-2. What are the differences between the two. Is it possible that this truck came with a big block 350?

A 4 barrel carb verses a 2 barrel carb.  See following file, taken right from repair manual on vin/serial #'s.  Sorry, not so clear.  A "Z' would have indicated a 454 big block.

#1: The easiest and most obvious solution to any problem is 99% of the time correct.
#2: There is no such thing as impossible, it just takes longer.
