Gun Control ?
« on: January 25, 2013, 10:02:51 pm »
Do you have the right to bear arms ? Does the government have the right to take away your  arms ?

I want to be upfront with you about this blog.  He is pro guns and pro defense of owning guns, so if you disagree then do not open the link.
If you feel the same, I believe that America has lost site of why and how our great nation came to be so great.  I believe that Americans should be re-educated on what and why our founding fathers fought so hard to gain their independence.
If you read this and agree, please pass it on.

If you like that I have a funny e-mail on alternative guns that you do not need a license to own.  E-mail me and I will forward you a copy.

they can't enforce the laws they allready have concerning firearms. So their answer is lets make more laws. Laws that will only prevent law abiding people from keeping, and using guns safely. Defending themselves, and loved ones from some dirtbag that doesn't follow laws?

Last I read, the kid in Conn. that killed all the kids broke 41 laws in less than 2 hours in his quest to settle the score with his mother. His mother had done everything by the law on the guns she owned in one of the toughest gun control states in the USA. Creating even 1 more law obviously wouldn't have changed the outcome of his actions that day. Instead of looking to eliminate guns(impossible) lets look at what is controlling the trigger finger, that is where we can have some kind of impact in eliminating the next shooting.

Hey guys,
I live up in Canada and we have some pretty good gun laws here too and it can be a pain. It sucks to see whats going to happen down there in the next while. Its not fair for one nut job to screw it up for the law following citizen and then have to break you back and jump through hoops just to have and enjoy guns.
Like I always say."Guns dont kill people, People kill people."
No law is going to stop someone from shooting another person. Our laws up here dont stop people from killing each other still. Whether the gun is registered or not it happens and still will.

I live not far from the christmas eve shooting where firemen were ambushed and killed by a gunman . The shooter had once been incarcerated for killing his grandmother with a hammer . The guns he used were gotten illegally . The guns and the crime were both illegal yet it still happened . Wouldn't the whole thing have been avoided if they didn't set a convicted killer free?

I tried to not post in this thread...just can't help myself.
Accountability is the real issue that needs more control. We have enough gun laws that do not get enforced already. Let's start by enforcing the laws that were already forced upon us. An idea I heard recently was to make criminal activity with a gun a federal offense punishable by mandatory jail time (say ten years or more in a federal prison). Probably half of the criminals will not carry a gun (hopeful thinking I know). That right there would cut down on gun violence considerably. Here is an example that is local to me. 19 yr old kids break into our local gun store and get caught. Kids have troubled past but no doubt know that breaking into a gun store is illegal. Public defenders get them off with probation on condition of good behavior. No, no, #%&$%#$ no!!! They committed a serious crime in my eyes and there were no consequences for them. They didn't even have to pay for a lawyer to keep from being somebodies girlfriend in jail. And I thought the McDonald's lawsuit over somebody spilling hot coffee on yourself was asinine!

Here is another thing,
I think elected officials should pay attention to. When they are sworn in, they are sworn to uphold the constitution not tear it apart.

I know and fully understand that today's society it nothing like our founding fathers had in mind. My opinion is that it is all the more reason to have the second amendment right. I live in a very rural area that has a very low crime rate. Most households are armed here. Thieves know the chances they take for the most part. Muggings do not exist here as nobody would just give up their money they earned. If you are a criminal here then you are an outcast and will not make it in this area. People here live worry free and it is a shame that in other parts of the United States of America law abiding citizens have to look over their shoulders. I don't get it.

And then there is the real reason we have the 2nd amendment...I won't go there.

Ok, end rant.

Good discussion guys!  I believe that Bake hit it on the head when he talked about reeducating Americans about what independence and freedom mean. Independence means not being dependant on others. Our entitlement society, in fact, teaches us to be dependant on the government. The mindset today is to legislate everything and firearms are at the top of that list. Our nation was at its greatest when honesty, integrity, patriotism and the fear of God were important. Maybe that's part of the reason we love these old trucks....  it reminds us of times like that! Now the question is, what can we do to return to those times?

I am a student of History, I love learning about history (even more than our square body's) especially the Revolution and the founding fathers. The main purpose for the second amendment is to protect ourselfs from our government if and when it becomes corrupt or tyrant. The founding fathers knew exactly all to well what that meant. For those of you who don't know that is the exact reason we became a country, We took up arms against a Tyrant government/King.  Shortly after the war we became the United States. Now these great men wrote a basic set of laws to keep just this sorta thing from happen again. They knew that men are corruptible, and knew that someday it was possible that our own government could be no different than a Tyrant like King George. The second amendment grants us that right to defend ourselves against this same tyranny. And they can not take it away. Unless we let them. I repeat UNLESS WE LET THEM.  You will not find a group of men so selfless, courageous and full of integrity, as these men were. The exact Opposite of elected leaders today. They are selfish, cowards, and have very little integrity. If any. The main problem with leaders today is they believe that they are smarter than the rest of us, And they know better than you, what is best for you.  They will try and amend the Second Amendment[/b]. Just like prohibition.  Saying stuff like it is not needed anymore. those days are gone, that was for the Militia, we a have a military now. There will be a whole host of reason. And for every reason they give, that is the exact reason it was put there in the first place. whether you own a gun or not. You need to understand it not necessary about owning a gun. Its about having the right too.

had a 15 yr old shoiot a 14 yr old through the neck in ATL yesterday...  =gun control is stupid...  you gonna tell me that 15 yr old got the gun through legal means?  gun control is retarded.  if you support these gun control measures... count me as your enemy.   if gun control passes only law abiding citezens wont have guns...  the criminals who got their guns through criminal means will still have theirs...  that 15 yr old didnt fill out background checks cuz he got it through illegal means, "ILLEGAL MEANS" means they bypassed ANY law you could ever make to get what he wanted, and there's NO LAW you could possibly make to prevent it...

This is just me, but I think they should make capitol punishment apply for situations like thesze.  the kid who did this should be killed.   hes subhuman and shouldnt exist any more.  if they killed more of these criminals for lesser offenses, ppl would chill out commiting crimes.  if they dont, screw em, theyll be dead. and well be rid of em, permanently...  I like it either way

I'll oppose the "let's enforce existing laws first" on the idea that they're all unconstitutional (hence, illegal) in the first place. So, if one wants to enforce the Law, and not a bunch of petty regulation by unelected bureaucrats and career politicians, let's first charge those with violating the Constitution as provided by that document. That'd be a good start right there. Then we can worry about whether or not to oppress people based on their property and personal values. (Or not, as I'd prefer)
