Hello all!

I recently bought a 1983 K10 on New Years Day. Originally a 305 it now has a 1970 350 that has been mildly built. I needed a little something to play around in during the snowy winters here in Boone NC. I look forward to seeing all the great trucks on here.

Thanks everyone.

I have got the GQ1 RPO for standard axle. It is open diff in 2wd because it struggles to turn into/come up my 22 degree incline driveway. If it is peg leg in 2wd, what makes it engage both rear wheels when I flip it over to 4HI? Or does it even do that? I have not popped the cover off so I don't know the ratio yet.

The axle and the transfercase are unrelated.  If the rearend is open, nothing will change it short of putting a different differential in it.

so I technically have a 4x3  (2 front wheels and one rear putting the power down)... that's stupid

Nope. If stock you have 1 wheel up front and 1 wheel in back. Kinda false advertisment is it.

Differentials are designed to take the path of least resistance...Simply put if one wheel is on ice and one wheel is on dry ground the tire on the ice will spin. If traction is the same "dirt road heavy gas pedal then the diff will put power to both wheels" This describes the action of an open diff not to be confused with limited slip and not to be confused with a locker or different yet a spool.
