Damon23's 1982
« on: February 09, 2013, 03:00:33 pm »
Finally got a sunny day and I did'nt have anything going on. We did some wood floors and there was sawdust all over it so I took it down, gas'd it up, wiped it down and took it out for a ride. It has been sitting in the garage for about a month now. We put on a new carb and I adjusted the TV cable the best I could. Now I just need to get it down to a transmission shop to do final tuning. Here are some pictures of it in the sun. It is the factory 305/700r4 combo, ac, and that is about it as far as options unless you count power steering and brakes. I was shocked that it only had one tank. Going to replace the aftermarket seat with a factory bench seat as soon as I get the cover I ordered. I have in the near plans a drop, new exhaust, 85-87 grille and bumper guards. I'm also going to paint the wheels and flip the tires around. But that will be after the drop.

Very nice looking Truck!

That's about the color I planning to painting Ol' Blue.  Right now it is faded "Hawaiian Blue"

Here is the inside. Nothing fancy. The previous owner gave me two of the metal bezels. I replaced that wood already and they used vinyl on the passenger side piece so I peeled that one off to revel a nice metal piece. In here the seat will go, I'll change out the door panels to the newer style and change out the steering wheel.  That will be about it for the inside.

Do you have any idea what the seats came out of?

They are a aftermarket seat. I don't know anything about them.

Thanks everyone. I've been working on it. I got the 2.5in western chassis drop spindles installed and picked up a set of bumper guards for $50 and got them installed. I think they really set off the front end of these squares. I have the seat covers in just need to install them and then I can clean the carpets and install a factory bench seat and get rid of that awful seat that is in it now. I've already swapped out the dash and peeled the vinyl woodgrain off the passenger side dash so it looks like it is supposed to. I still have to get the drop shackles on, hopefully this weekend, and I want to change out the steering wheel and get a tilt column but all in time. Here are some pics with the front dropped and guards installed.

That is one nice looking truck!
Could be the sharpest blue I've ever seen on our trucks.

Well, things have changed a bit with the plans for this truck. Since the original plan was to give this truck to my son when he is 16 I have let him in on what to do with it. We decided a pro-touring type truck that will be good for daily driving. We have started dechroming the truck and will start by lowering the rear a little more and beefing up the suspension. Still looking for the cosmetic things (mainly 85-87 grill) as I picked up a suburban rear bumper today. Not a lot of folks will like it but I think we are going to start putting up for the 20 in salt flat wheels and tires. For now, the soft 8's will be run as I just couldn't take the vette rally wheels anymore.

I love the stance of this truck.  Slightly lowered but not too much.  Looks like a beast.  What size rims and tires are you running with those soft 8's?
