Not Ment to Be
« on: February 23, 2013, 09:38:56 pm »
Ever feel like the project truck you have just isnt ment to be yours, even though it is yours. Lets start about 2 years ago when i bought my 85 Chevy. I had to do minor things to it. change out tires, valve cover gaskets, battery things like that. Then one day I noticed the transfer leaking so i replaced all gaskets and seals. Then I noticed the oil pan leaking so i replaced it to.

So while replacing the oil pan, i noticed my rear main cap was cracked in two placed (BB454). Then i decided to rebuild the motor, so being in the military i shipped it back home to Temple, Texas to by boys shop. Tore the motor out, and rebuilt it. Make a trip home to Texas for christmas to realize that my flex plate need to be turned around cause it wasnt lined up right. So again it wasnt ready for me to enjoy. Then I deploy and dont see it again for many many months. Finally while on post deployment leave i get to Texas and had to replace the radiator, guess what summit send me the wrong one. FInally get the right one and just 3 days before my family and I head back to CA great I am super excited.

Then I finally get enough money to get it shipped to CA, off load it from the shipping truck, while driving home what do i smel but oil. Get home pop the hood OMG my valve cover gasket it pouring fluid on my headers, my transfer is still leaking and it looks like my oil pan is leaking too. Plus I had a birthday party for my little girl and I havent seen my keys sense. OMG, maybe it just isnt ment to be mine. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sounds like the PO abused the truck.  Unfortunately when you buy used you never know in what shape the truck is really in.  You take a chance on wether it was cared for or just used.

People sell them for a reason and it is not because the just don't use them enough. It's used and its old and to top it off, replacement parts aren't the best quality they could be. Stick with it and look at it as another challenge. When you no longer have the desire to conquer the task or you don't want to give it a shot then that is the time you cash out and find something new. My truck is a project for me. It is not perfect but it is up to me to make it perfect in my eyes. I'm just glad I do t have to rely on it as a daily driver c
