Compatable body parts

Hi there. So I have a 74 Chevy K10 350 small block and a 78 chevy 2wd 350 small block. I was hoping to swap out some body pannels. I was told the the fenders are interchangable, but I'm wanting to find out if the doors and interior are interchangeable between my 74 and this 78. I was told by an auto parts store that the doors were not interchangable because they changed in like 76-80 or something. Any help would be much appreciated. As far as the interior goes, I am wanting to swap out steering wheels and maybe the dash. Thanks again.

This is a slightly loaded question.  First can you take the doors off your 78 and bolt them to your 74, yes.  In fact you could do the same for all years if you are moving the whole door. 
They changed in 1977 when they added power windows as an option and the interior sheetmetal changed to account for this and therefore the door panels changed.  So 1973-1976 can only use that same door panel if you are just swapping.  there are several caveots to this but... If you swap to the longer 77-91 regulators and add a few holes you can put 77-91 panels on them.  KEEP in mind regulators on the 73 are specific to that year!
The 1977-91 doors (this bodystyle ONLY) use the same door panel.  Without filling holes and swapping to a shorter regulator they 1973-76 door panels won't work.

Thank you, That was very helpful. The idea was to swap out the entire door. The 78 that I have, has manual windows. so tell me if my understanding is correct, as long as I am swapping out the entire door and putting it on my 74, the door will bolt up, and open and close fine? If thats so, that is great news.

Yes the entire door will bolt on fine off the 78
