Maybe Gaudy...
« on: March 14, 2013, 09:54:53 pm »
Maybe gaudy but this so me....

Been thinking on this for 2 years now, finally paid the cash for it...

My new hood ornament...

I drive so much now I think it'll be awesome to see the angry duck out on the end of my hood leading the way!

 8)

If I change my mind, or it sucks, being back to where I am now is only a lil weld and a paintjob for the hood away...  and my body guy is really impressive at matching paint....   :D

I had one question for you gearheads...  the thing comes nickel plated...  either nickel or black nickel or gold plated... period.  should I go have it chromed before I install it?  how's nickel hold up on a daily driver in every kind of all weather, year round?  I don't wanna be rubbing tarnish off it all the time.  every week or two would be ok though.

This is the second fun thing I got to buy for the truck in the last 3 mos, and it works so hard...lol

If ya totally hate it, shhhh...   nah it's cool I want all opinions.  but it's goin on there.... :)

Nickel plating is superior to chrome because nickel doesn’t corrode or tarnish, period.  That duck is very unique, and so is your truck.  Enjoy it.

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear!  Thank God no corrosion or tarnish!

The only person that has to approve of it is your Grandfather.
If he votes yes, go for it.

Oh LORD!  He wouldn't  Solely because it cost a nickel....  If I told him what I paid for that duck he would laugh at me...  but he still think things ought to cost what they did in the fifties...  he used to get mad when $25 wouldn't buy a weeks worth of groceries...

He told me when he gave it to me though, you do whatever you want...  He thought I wasted my money on the wheels and BFG's, but when he saw them on it, he said I shoulda got some wheels for it when I had it...

He'd let me do it, he would.  he'd laugh at the duck, not in a bad way, but never know he may wish he'd have had a duck when it was his...   :D
