fuel sending unit
« on: March 24, 2013, 06:09:44 PM »
Hello again. So my truck is a 74 K-10 4wd with a 350 small block. I have a 78 2wd truck for parts. I think I need to replace the fuel sending unit because my gauge pins past full when the key is turned on, and it stays in that position. So my question is, are the fuel sending units interchangeable between my two trucks. If so, great. Then my next question is, the 78 has been sitting for several years, so what would be a good way to clean the fuel sending unit from the 78 before I put it in my 74? Thanks so much for all the help.

They will swap, but if the donor doesn't work it won't do you any good.  There is no way to "clean" the sending unit.  It is part of the pickup assembly, so you need to replace the filter on the end...
