Check out my new transmission!
« on: April 03, 2013, 02:11:36 pm »
Yup... been a while since I posted because I've been busy...

Now that the wedding is over it's time to get back to work on my 1978 Chevy 3/4 Ton 4x4.  Made a phone call to Dana Sniff out in Southern California and told him what I'm building and what I want to do and he built me up a bullet-proof GM Turbo 400 Short Shaft Slush Box.  Has all the heavy duty parts, shift kit and large tranny fluid pan.

Now I need to get a good crossmember.  Going to need a short driveline to connect the transmission to the Dodge NP203 too...

Whatever Dana recommends.  Dana is da man when it comes to heavy duty transmissions.  He built the 700R4 in my current truck and it's been punished now for 4 years with no problems.  He knows what this is going to, the tire size, weight of truck and lead foot, so whatever he recoommends that's what I'lll get.

He's shipping the transmission from SoCal to Florida and says to save shipping weight I might as well buy the torqure converter out here.

Truck's been in limbo for months... time to get back on it I want to get it on the road this summer.

I get the "Best Friends" price so not sure if you could get the same but total price before shipping is $1300.00

He's in SoCal and I'm in Florida, sometime next week he's going to build a crate to ship it out here, my guess is it will cost me around $300.00 shipping plus some appreciation money for Dana to build the crate.

One thing for sure, I only like doing thing once.  I trust Dana's years of experience and expertise and I'm confident if my truck ever breaks, it's not going to be transmission related after this baby goes in.
