Ok so i took out my carpet and found rust in the typical places from what i here for these trucks
. My next issues is what can i do to prevent more decae until i can get it fixed for good. Here are some pictures, the first two are passenger side, the next two are driver side. Of course its also a little on the bottom of the doors. should i just sand it down to the metal and spray a rustoleum over?

I wish when I pulled my rug / floor mats back the floor was that clean for rust on anyone of my trucks I have had over the years!
I would scrape, wire brush, and or needle scale the rust. then coat it with Chassis saver. Problem is that rust is just as bad if not worse on the other side of those panels.

@blazin, yeah i took a wire brush to it, and tried to get all the lose, flaking metal off, cleaned the whole floor again and swept it out. yeah i guess your right about it being bad on both sides. Although what is needle scale?

Needle scaler is an air tool with a group of steel pins that hammer away at metal to remove rust, paint, scale, etc. I got one through Harbor Freight recently for $50. Works great on your frame.

My dad was in the Navy and supposedly they used them a lot to get rid of corrosion and paint.

If you go easy they work good on sheet metal. if you stay in one spot to long, or use to much pressure they will break through surface rusty sheet metal.
They were originally designed to remove weld scale.

OK, well i dont have time to fully get rid of the rust like i would like, or the skill, or tools. so i decided for the time being i will scrap the heck out of it and get it as clean as possible. then hit it with a tack cloth and then some krylon rust spray. I dont know how well it will all turn out, but i also live in CA so i am pretty sure that rust was from VA. so hopefully its enough to keep it under controll.

Well i put the carpet back in, but also i decided to put my hand inside the fender from the inside where the vent hole is, and felt nothing but leaves, and trash, so a vacuumed it all out.

If you can find fogging oil with an extension tube, stick the tube down in that rust hole and fog the inside with oil. Give it a good few hot days to creep and fog it just a little bit again, and call it good. Reapply in about 6 months.
