Paint color
« on: April 12, 2013, 12:39:54 pm »
I am going to re-spray my truck and I need some paint help.  It is an 84 K10 and the paint code is 64 desert sand metallic.

I have searched the net, and I cannot find any GM color that is desert sand metallic.  All I can find are buckskin or medium beech firemist or something.  I just want to go back to the original color.  Can someone help me out?  Thanks in advance!

Do not get hung up on the NAME given to the color. For whatever reason, the paint manufactures often gave their own name to a color, as in: PPG, Dupont, R-M each could have a different name that is also different then GM called it & all be the same code. I have also seen where the sales brochures, ect. were different names than what the vehicle sticker is named within GM.
What your looking for is the CODE, but you need to be sure the chart/book, ect. your looking at is for "Truck"...up until something in the mid '90's, there were Car colors & Truck colors...you could have code 27 that was Metallic Blue, but the color was different. Hope this helps, Lorne
