Hello from SD
« on: May 14, 2013, 08:14:58 am »
Finally getting an intro on here.  Tons of good info floating around on this site!
My name is Scott, from Rapid City, SD.  Got hooked on these trucks by accident I guess.  Bought a rusted out 77 K10 for $300, simply because I needed a way to haul the ATV I bought.  Wrecked my daily driver GTA not long after that and was "forced" to drive the rust bucket, and there you have it.  I found an 86 K10 with 86000 on the odometer in decent shape, gave the 77 away and here I am.  The previous owner swapped the 305 for a 350.  Manual trans.  So far, the mod list includes headers, magnaflow mufflers, 3" pro comp lift, and 33x12.5 Grabber AT2s on the stock rallies.  Switched the dummy lights over to factory gauges with tach, and then added lights to the gauges for extra peace of mind.  Auto start remote start (yes it's carbureted. yes it's a manual. yes it's dummy proof).  Currently finishing up my power window/lock swap.  Making my own version of the window crank style switch, to keep the factory look.
Here's a couple pictures of it.  Not in good of shape as the pictures would suggest, but still a great truck.

Used an actuator off of a junk seat bottom to set choke with the trunk button on the remote. I'll get a picture up sometime soon.  If you get a remote start compatible with manuals, there is a fool proof sequence so that it won't start in gear.

welcome from Virginia. Definitely doesn't look much like a rust bucket from the pick but as we all know, it's what lies beneath that holds the truth.
Auto start remote start (yes it's carbureted. yes it's a manual. yes it's dummy proof).  Currently finishing up my power window/lock swap.

Waiting on the pics and post for this...as far as dummy proof, maybe you just haven't found the right dummy and hopefully you don't.
