Bad headlight switch make dash lites go off?

86 truck...no dash lights or blinkers.  Headlights work but when I go to brights the brights lite in dash lites up....it's the only lite that works.  Any ideas?

The symptoms you describe indicate a bad printed circuit on back of the instrument cluster.
