Colored Dash Lights
« on: June 13, 2013, 11:05:50 am »
Has anyone used the colored peanut bulbs for their dash lights? I was thinking on doing this but don't know if they would be bright enough. I tried looking in the forums but haven't seen anything. Thanks for any help or insight.

I wasn't happy with the colored peanut bulbs for dash illumination.  As you suspected, not bright enough.  Another option is SuperBrightLEDs.  Available in various colors, but pricey.

Led's are definitely the way to go, have done them in my 93, k1500, 08 superduty and plan on doing my 77 k5 when the dash goes back together.

I had the color blubs and hated them. For my two stock blubs and gauges I bought the blue LEDs from whitegauges.net. I also had a sunpro triple gauges with white faces and again tried colored blubs because I could not find LEDs for them at first. Could not even seen them when in the dark, so I hunted for a awhile and found the correct bulb size for them and bought them online (I will have to check when I get home what the website was) and then had about four different kinds that were listed by how many LEDs and the viewing angles. They low profile and everything, I went with a four LED one and I could not be happier.
