Hey guys I am new here and just bought an 82 longbed. The truck runs and drives great but the temp, and speedo don't work. Also the tail lights work but not the brake lights. Any suggestions? I am trying to restore this truck a little at a time. Already did the body work and painted it but I suck at electrical issues.

first check all fuses......then check the bulbs in the tail lights.....if everything is good then check for power going to the brake light switch....if you need more help shoot me a message....dag computer post this in the wrong thread...it is running so slow and i click too fast....first check the wires and make sure they are connected to the sensors....the speedo could very possibly be a loose speedo cable.

prob brake light switch since both bulbs are out. now thats not saying they both cant go out at the same time or close to it but its what i would bet on it looks like one of these

now note your brake light and tail lights are the same bulb but different filaments in the bulb. your turn signal also uses the same filament as the brake lights so if your turn signals work fine then its not a bad bulb. does your temp move at all or is it dead?

now your speedo is a cable/mechanical so make sure your speedo cable is connected to the back of the gauge and to the transmission

Is it a K or a C?  (2wd or 4wd?)  The speedo cable connection to the transfer case on the 4x4s has a little widget that slips on the end of the cable at the transfer case.  If someone pulled the cable out to lube it, and just stuck it back in (which works for 2wd and most cars), then the speedo won't work.  You have to pull the cable housing off the transfer case and stick the widget back on the end of the cable.

Its a 4x4 long bed silverado. I will check the brake switch mentioned. Does anyone know where it is located?

Bet your speedometer is fine and you just need to put the little widget back on the transfer case end of the cable.

The brake light switch is on the brake pedal bracket, a couple inches above your toes when you push the brake pedal.
