Few questions.
« on: June 16, 2013, 01:37:38 pm »
So while working on my 77 k5 blazer found a few small problematic areas that I want to see if anyone has knowledge or advice on. First I was tracing some of the wiring down behind the gauge cluster becasue nothing was working( more on some of that later) but found what looks to be a wiper pulse board? all the wires lead back to the wiper control switch on the dash, however where ever I look nowhere has this part and mine is cracked in half.

The other one that is stumping me is this one couldn't figure or even begin to figure out what this was supposed to be hooked up to. Has an orange and black wire going into it.

The last one I will have to snap a picture of but the P/O seriously didn't seem to know what the heck he was doing with mickey  mouse wiring, wires leading to nowhere just laying around. etc and changed the trans to a th 400 as far as i can tell and replaced the np203 with a np208c transfer case.  I have the factory speedometer wire for the np203 which will be replaced with a longer one to reach the opposite side for the np208.

But can i just get a replacement wire from the transducer into the speedometer for the gauge and not worry about using the cruise control or is there another way to get the speedometer to read?

Also trying to figure out where the black phillips box in the background of the last picture goes to.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

The connector with the orange and black wire is for the clock.

Are there part numbers on that board?  I don't recognize that..  The wiper control would be in the actual switch...

Unfortunately there are no part numbers on the board.  I'll try to get some more pictures of where the wiring goes into and on the switch later today.

The only other component for the wiper is the Relay on the early model, and it is a thin rectangle piece with a wierd L bracket and a power wire tail coming out of it.

Here are some more pics, sorry bout the crappy quality took them on the cell phone.

Then it ties into these double connectors

Then seems like 2 wires go into the factory gm harness

Then its run infront of the factory harness behind the cluster

Then on another note still can't figure out what this goes to either.

So last night on my lunch break tried looking up any upgrade kits for the classic chevy trucks, different pulse boards for various chevy trucks from 80-93, checked dorman and jcwhitney and still at a stand still on this.

Using the diagram here for a guide: http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/wiring_diagrams/77-80_cab_inter.jpg
The Black wire at the lamp  is 97 and it runs to the bulkhead connector
The Grey wire at the lamp is 8F and it runs to a Splice providing grounds tying into Splice 8 here, right side by horn relay:  http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/wiring_diagrams/77-80_instrument_pg2.jpg
The Black 150 on the switch with the stripe appears to go to the SP150 that then goes to the Ground bus here: http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/wiring_diagrams/77-80_instrument_pg1.jpg
The purple 92 goes to the bulkhead harness here:  http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/wiring_diagrams/77-80_instrument_pg1.jpg

The Orange and Yellow should route back to the headlamp switch... I would imagine,  Does this help you get started?

459409 is the GM part number for a 1977-only wiper delay control module.  The OE part is obsolete, but you might find NOS.  Have your local Chevy/GMC dealer run it on their national parts locator network for any hits.

If the only problem is a broken board, is there any chance you could make a new PC board (Radio Shack has blank boards and etching solution) and transfer the components?  Or, perhaps you could adapt a later model module.
