Mud tires for a Dually!
« on: June 17, 2013, 02:57:19 pm »
Hey all! I got my "73 reg cab Dually and I want some mud tires for it. Right now I'm runing 235/85-r16. It has a 4" lift kit on it. So I have plenty of clearance for bigger tires. Not real sure how the size of Dually tires work or if there is a super single type thing I can get. Want the equivalent to a 35" tire if possible. I can get new rims If needed. Any info you have will help! Thanks!

what ever you do you want the front and rear to be the same size so you can rotate them

It don't have to be that way. I mean if there is Dually mud tires that would be great but I think a super single type thing would be cool

Seems when I was doing all my research for the tallest “skinny” mud tire, I found a few people running the 255 85 16 on dually’s.  I went with the BFG KO m/t, as it also seemed to be the tallest “actual” size comparing to other brands.

Is there any type of rim I could buy to fit a bigger tire on the back? Maybe deeper dish rims that can spread the tires a bit and make it fit like real close  regular tires? I know it might be a long shot. But there is some room side to die to work with

if you do that you might be lucky and get 10-15k miles out of the tires. spending 1-2k$ is a little exspensive for tires that you will have to replace probably twice a year now that being said i do like the ideal of big mud tires in the read and smaller up front. i would go for a tire that wears good on the road so they last may not be aggressive as you want but it will last longer.

Yeah. I definately need more aggressive tread then what I have cause out where I live in the winter the roads don't get plowed fast and when it rains its a muddy mess and that's fun to play around in! Haha
