Regardless get rid of that junk bronze filter and put an good inline filter on it or sooner or later you'll end up stranded somewhere, happened to me twice first time I was lucky someone stopped and I told him what happened, he looked and saw the Q-jet and said the filter is plugged they're junk throw it away, sure thing took it out put the hose back on and everything was fine, so I put a new one in(didn't sink in the first time)few hundred miles later same thing happened again, put an inline filter on no more problems..
