It's been a while since I've been on here. I've changed jobs so money has been short, (I wasn't trying to see cool trucks when I'm broke.) Anyway, as I may or may not have stated before. This is my first project I've ever taken on, I'm trying to use as little help as possible unless something needs welded... Anyway I'm straying from the questions I'm seeking.

So, I've been trying to decide how low I want to drop, and how much I'm willing to risk. I do know and understand, bagging my truck at that low of a stance would probably be the best thing to do. However, growing up all the dope slammed cars never had bags. They were low because, they were simply that low, nothing special. So, for the sake of "tradition," I want to do the same (plus an air compressor sounds pretty lame.)

I currently have an 86 C10, on 15x8 rallies wrapped with 235/75r-15 all the way around. The truck is already lowered (but I didn't do it, so I couldn't honestly say how it is done.) I would like to keep the rallies on it also. I'm looking to see how I might go about a 7/10 drop and what tire combos should I start looking towards for that low of a drop? I will notch the frame, if needed. I can only assume its gonna need it. I don't plan on hauling anything, and this is not a daily driver, so I'm comfortable with taking it slow.

I'm trying to keep my budget as low as possible, I'd love to hear any and all input on lowering combinations, tired sizes and general input /advice. Not seeing a whole a whole lot of info on any forums with this low of a drop. Also photo are welcome to if anyone has any to show with this drop combo.

Also, I am interested in other drop suggestions too. I'm just interested in getting her real low.

i´ve seen a truck that was lowered for less than 100 dollars including shocks 5/6 inches... its not the best nor the smartest way to do it but it works, seen the guy driving around for over 2 years... still interested?

great, well for the front 2 full coils were cut (cost $0) wheel camber went out the window.. that was fixed but using i think they were 5/8 thread rod welded to the existing thread were the upper a arm is bolted to the framed, this allowed more shims to be placed in the middle thus moving the A arm forward correcting camber (cost $0), them he said the tie rods were at an odd angle to he just flipped them at the spindle by drilling the bottom side with a 3/4 in drill bit, allowing the tie rod to be moved tie rod up nut bottom to nut on top tie rod bottom cost (cost $0).. alignment was then corrected and caster was also checked cost (cost $0)... for the rear a homemade flip kit was used.. here´s the blue print...

 then he just c notched the frame its not hard at all really... just cut out the c and weld and box the frame in that section... (cost $10-20 in metal) for shocks he used some s10 shocks it think.... (cost $60) i got in it once.. and darn thing road like a ford on the pot holes and speed bumps.... but for the curves it was nice due to the center of gravity....

what do you guys think... any opinions...

not saying dont do this but i think they holes are tapered for a reason and it wasnt to make it harder for people to flip them.

You aren't going to be able to get it that low and it drive worth a darn especially if you are going to be static dropped and run the same size tires.

Generally speaking about a 5/7 is the limit and anything over about 5 in the rear requires a C-notch.  rubbing starts becoming a concern and with the tall tires you have changing them will make it lower.

I have read bit, about lowering lower than 5/7 but there hasn't been a lot of info out there for me to find. I have found a few supposedly 7/10 set ups, but again not a whole lot especially with out putting 20in+ rims, and I'll pass on that. I do plan on changing the tire sizes as well, I assumed rubbing would be an issue already. Any advice on tire sizes, again they would be wrapped on a 15x8rim.

Not going to be a lot with static drops over that.  Anything over about 255/60/15 is going to rub on a 5/7 on the front.  On the rear you could put a 295/50/15, 295/60/15 or 275/60/15.

Ok, so it's only been a few days, but I've thought about my personal capabilities and the cost to do a drop that drastic... Also the cost to potentially repair it all the time and I've realized it's really not going to be very feasible. Having little to no money for potential, constant repairs on a 7-10 drop is probably not my brightest idea (at least for this/now.)

Anyway, I've realized with a 5/7 I'm still gonna be low enough that I'm gonna be happy. Anyway, I don't want to start a new topic to clutter the forum so I'm hopping someone just see's this and replies. With the 3in drop spindles I'm looking at having to grind it a little to fit a 15 in rim.... So can anyone show me a photo of how much they had to grind (before and after would be awesome.) Also as a secondary Idea, I was thinking of 3in drop coils and a 2 in drop spindle. Would this work, and would this also eliminate the need to grind my spindles? Thanks again!

this truck is dropped about 7/9 tires rubbed on the inner fender and it has long tubes and they dragged. if you take out the inners and dont have long tubes you would be ok, if you are ok with a rough ride. the cap is2" tall and thats the lowest point i think

Hey I seen ur pic and I look the look but how's the drop u got I have 2" spindles 2" coils and want the 3" drop control arms for the front and flip kit shackles and hangers to get the 9 in the rear. What tires and wheels are u running?
