need help with engine accessories
« on: July 18, 2013, 11:08:22 pm »
I just bought a 350 and it has no accessories or brackets on the front of it. The year of the motor is a 85. How or where do i start looking to get these parts and brackets? Will later year brackets and accessories fit on an older motor?
Its going to take some time to get it done but it'll all be worth it at the end.

do you have the holes for them in the heads? since you have to replace them anyway you might want to think about converting over to serpentine system

double hump head are sometimes swapped in place of stock heads for more power. the double hump heads have no accessory bolt holes for brackets. was thinking is this why you dont have accessory or was there another reason.

The motor had all the stuff on it before I bought it. It was a 3 belt system but the guy said he was keeping it all.
Its going to take some time to get it done but it'll all be worth it at the end.

I'll m a pic of the engine I put serpentine setup on tomorrow. Best thing is to buy an early 90s throttle body engine that has been locked up etc for like $200 and just set it near you truck and swap everything

Thanks that would be helpful. I guess that's what I was trying to ask. So a newer 350 motor accessories will fit my 85 350?

Just find a donor serpentine system and bolt it up.

Ok I'm going to make this simple. Will a serpentine system off a early 90'sbolt right up to my 85 350?
Its going to take some time to get it done but it'll all be worth it at the end.

84 engine and 90 model with serpentine. You probably don't have hole 6 (blue one on the 84 pic) sorry the pic is blurry. You could make a bracket to connect the back of the ac to the intake or drill and tsp a hole for that spot. Also if you go serpentine you'll need a 90 model water pump and cooling fan (the belt routing spins them the opposite way)
