how much to lower?
« on: February 23, 2005, 01:01:00 PM »
I've got a '77 chev short box truck(completely stock) with a '53 GMC body on it.  There is 4.5 inches of clearance between the top of the front tire and the bottom of the front fenders.  I'd like to drop the front at least 3" (spindles??) leaving me with about 1.5" clearance between the tire and wheel well. but am afraid that the normal suspension travel will cause the tire to hit the wheel well (yes, the front end is a bit too wide for the 53 body).  I'm on a very limited budget(wife) so any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Are you wanting to know how much, what pieces?  Kinda confused.

They make 2.5" spindles also.

how much to lower

Sorry, I guess what I was asking is that if I lower the front end to have only 1.5 to 2 inches of space between the tire and fender would normal driving conditions (bumps) cause the tire to hit the fender  with this suspension.  Does anyone have any ideas  how I should lower this truck?  Or if it is possible to tuck the tires in somehow?(other than a front clip)
Hope this makes more sense.
