1977 GMC Sierra Grande K15 4X4
« on: July 22, 2013, 11:31:51 pm »
350 Automatic. My 1st vehicle bought it last year. Gonna Fix it up real nice. Needs new floors, rockers, and a bed. Gonna convert it to a 3 speed with overdrive or just a 4 speed. Gonna put some subs so I can get the bass bumpin. Gonna repaint it red with white pinstripes goin down the side. I have a gun rack to put in it. Has 6 inch lift and 31s. Gonna put 35s under it with some American Racing Outlaw 2s. Would like to keep the fleet side bed. Gonna use a rebel flag as the headliner and put black carpet in it. Put a tool box in the back and a nice brush guard on it. Still thinkin bout puttin a winch on it. Would like runnin light on it and some nice fender flares and runnin boards. Gonna be my daily driver. Paid $600 for it. Cant complain a bit. I call him Bone Breaker

You got you a real nice looking truck there and a good starting place for your list of mods.
Are you set on running boards? Depending on the look you're going for you might look into building a set of pipe side steps. I've heard them called nurf bars or rock sliders, not sure of the official name but if you do some looking at rock crawler jeeps you will see what I mean. I have a set of Nfab pipe steps on my 2004 silverado crew and I really like the look and function. I want to make something similar for my 87 suburban but not knowing how to weld is slowing me down a little.

My approach is to just add to functionality to fit my needs. No plans for show truck status or anything like that. My focus so far has been on getting her road worthy. I bought the truck to be a hunting truck but it's just too solid and straight to use it like a bulldozer and leave setting in the brush for weeks at a time.

Now, if I was dreaming I think it go expedition style. I would really like to build the truck into a self sustained off-road rig that I could take on the trail for days at a time. Something that could carry food, water, supplies and be a place to sleep for several days out in the wilderness. BUT... That takes $$ and a lot of time. Working and supporting a family of 5 doesn't leave much play time.

Haha Floor PANS. and I will. This is a big day for me bought my truck 2 years ago. Its gonna be my daily driver. Cant wait to drive it to school and have some fun in it. I have $470 to fix all the rust and then I'll most likely buy some new interior parts with the left over money.
