Former Military truck interior??
« on: July 27, 2013, 01:40:14 pm »
Odd request but... Does anyone have a ripped up seat out of one of these trucks that could cut a piece out of the vinyl?  The color "Mahogany" is not available in aftermarket seat covers but I was thinking leather.  All the Military Blazers and trucks had this color seats and so does my 85 C20 I am in the middle of restoring.  Thing is my bench is near perfect and the place won't let folks take the leather swatches home and I am not going to take the seat to them.  You never know until you ask???   Here is a picture of a CUCV Blazer.  Mahogany is a brownish red.

Haha he will probably notice that. His seats are rough though. I'll probably be going over there Monday after work. If I do I'll let you know what I come up with.

A buddy of mine runs an upholstery shop in Salem. (Oregon) Next time I'm there, I'll rummage through the scraps and see what I can find, if you haven't come up with it yet.

That would be awesome, thanks.  The Mrs and I were shopping at the Lazyboy Showcase store for a new couch and off on the back wall they have all kinds of fabric and leather samples.  They sell them just like a fabric shop but unlike a paint store you can't take the color/fabric samples home...  My seat is nice still but I want to put a pair of high back suburban bucket seats and want to recover them with as close to the same color as possible.

Roger is sending some from a buddies upholstery shop so I don't know.  I know what you can get will be the right color.  I will post my findings when the samples arrive

Can you not just change the color of all the seats?

Zieg,
Did you ever get your seats recovered?
I'm thinking about getting the bench seat in my M1028 recovered over the winter.  I was just wondering what you came up with for options.
Thanks.  Fitz

Supposedly I found a guy, talked to him, emailed a formal request but have not heard back yet.  He is around St. Louis and can get the exact color I need.  He has restored several former military trucks.

Just contacted his buddy on Facebook, should have an answer soon.  I am planning on dropping my seats off and let him do it.
