2003 s10 4.3
« on: July 27, 2013, 09:17:06 pm »
Came down this weekend to VA. To visit my in uncle just to find out his 2003 Chevy is throwing codes. Before I showed up it threw 4.3 p0101, p0335 and p0341 0101 mass air flow 0335 crank position sensor 341 is cam position sensor. He replaced all sensors still same problem then I showed up he had a ecm from a junk yard, so he was wanting to replace it so we did. And the ecm had to be flashed so we pulled it back out and put in his old one. We took it for a test drive. Here's the problems rough idle, once you reach about 2500 rpms it will stumble and the tach will bounce around like crazy. I did a search online and saw this post.

2001 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3L Poor Idle Quality, Hesitation, Misfire, Cameron Lamp on VIN: 1GNDT13W21 this was an easy fix but information is keept by dealership. a .10 shim must be install in front of crank sensor for clearance after this your will be able to perform crank relearn. also note that my tach was also crazy needdle will jump high during normal acc... Trouble codes: P0101, P0335 (crank pos sensor circuit), P0341 (cam pos sensor circuit)
On my phone so resources are limited and wondering if anyone out here has heard of this problem if you go to this link it will say its a "dealer" secret and you have to be a member to see it.
Then this Leeds to this http://www.iatn.net/techhelp/69/18362/2001-chevrolet-blazer-ls-4.3l-poor-idle-quality-hesitation-misfire-mil-lamp-on

I've never had to do that to one.  The gm tech 2 had a learn function when you install a new crank sensor. Not sure about Tue whole shim thing... kinda sounds like bs has he made sure he doesn't have a common ground for those 3 that may be messed up? I work in the body shop at our local Chevy dealer. I'll try to get you some info on it monday

well the s10 is having problems again. last week it had a no start condition and a shop towed it and found no problems and it started. said he had no oil pressure and asked if he wanted to change the oil. he let them but thats all they could find. so he took it home and started looking at it and realized the batter was 5 years old and took it to advanced auto to see if it was bad. they charged it and it was bad so he replaced it and it fixed the problem. till today he was going to the dump and had a no start, i went out and not having my tools or testers i sprayed choke cleaner in the tb. it was the only thing he had but the engine wouldnt even try to start just would rotate and when you stop cranking the engine it would have a slight backfire out the intake.

so i pulled a plug and tried to test spark it was there but we had the engine on a jump start and the spark didnt seam as bright or as fast as it should be. i i went inside and tied to search for a no start condition and my uncle got it started by just tring to start it again. he took it to the dump and when he came back he got me to listen to it. dont know if it is related to the the non start but theres a miss and it doesnt clear up with rpms. then i started to look at the engine and you can hear a tap that happens with the miss and you can see the crank also wobble with the miss and tap. so i got under it and you can hear the tap louder on the underside.

i think its all related and that is why the crankshaft position sensor is still throwing the codes and the no start. im only down here for another day but and one have a similar problem or ideal what the problem could be?
