blew my motor...building new one, what cam brand do you prefer?

The motor in my c20 went, so I'm building a new one using the 355 bottom end my brother is selling me. I'll need to replace the camshaft and am curious to know what companies people prefer and why. Personally I don't have a preference as this will be my first build.

Now that they are back in business, Crane all the way. I have had real good service, reliability, and power from Crane.
If Crane had not came back I'd look at Lunati, or Comp. (both Memphis, TN which are local, and easy to get same day parts).

Don't overlook Summit Racing cams. They used to be made by Crane, but I'm not sure who supplies them these days. Like any cam you install, using a good lube and following proper break-in procedures is key to good performance.

No one company grinds the perfect cam for every application. Begin by deciding on exactly what you want to accomplish. Be realistic. Then start your research. There are some great threads on this Forum concerning cam numbers and what they mean. Search Comp and click on the various links posted by Rich Weyand.

This is probably the best thread where I talk about my cam decision:

It includes a pointer to this very nice article:
