L have a cb/stereo combo in my 78 scottsdale.  From what I can tell it is a rare piece. Is it worth fixing up?

If it works and is complete put it on eBay, I've seen them go for a pretty penny.  Don't hint of trying to sell it here without site supporter status or it will be deleted...

asking questions about the value of something or asking if someone is interested is considered trying to sell it

he is just trying to figure out if he wants to fix it, or just give it to me. It is out of our great grandfathers truck. we both have 78's that have been in the family since new.

well think about the practicality of it. would you use a cb or do you want it just to be able to say i have one. i haven't heard of one before but haven't been looking either. i dont know if it can even be repaired or restored

well then i would try to find out whats wrong with it. take it to a electrician of some sort and see what he says. then try to find parts online once you know whats wrong. it may cost a little more to get it repaired compared to buying a new cb but again it is kind of cool to have but if you want a modern stereo or cd player it may out weigh repairing the old unit
