"New"AC, .... total amount of refrigerant oil for system?
« on: August 10, 2013, 12:07:46 am »
I have a 1980 3/4T.  I've replaced every component, ...   compressor (Sanden 5D5H14) , evaporator, condenser, accumulator,  and all new hoses. I have a GM Factory Service Manual,  but it does not state the the total amount of oil, originally in the system, ..from the factory.  It shows how much to add for each specific component replaced, but no total amount.  There's no ac sticker on the truck, for information.  I'm going to drain the new compressor of it's PAG oil, and measure that amount, since I have an ample amount of R-12.  I'll put  that amount of mineral oil, back into the compressor. From there, I'll need to know the "total amount of oil , that's suppose to be in a "never run"" system, to determine how many additional ounces to put in.  I've been all over the net, but have not yet found a definite answer. Anyone know the answer?  Thanks
