Engine Decoding
« on: August 17, 2013, 11:27:12 am »
Ok so as many of you probably know already i have a 1983 k10 that originally had a 305 in it then was changed out for a 350. Last owner never told me what year it was. but i pulled up the #'s on the block behind the alternator and they come out to be 05S182539     V0620TYC  and i have been on here [urlhttp://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-engine-code-stampings.php][/url] and from what i can tell coming from the first set of numbers is that it is     chevy     1975    St louis or Ramos Arizpe and rest idk  then for the second set of numbers i get   Flint   June 20 Then tyc has to applications and if it corresponds with the first set of numbers it is 1975 conv.cab w/145 hp and 2 barrel carb. i just want to verify this since i need to replace my rear main seal pretty soon and a few other things and since the truck it 1983 and engine was replaced i just want to make sure i order parts for the right year.

Those would be the casting numbers, between the TYC  "1975    TYZ    350    conv.cab    L LS9     165    4    C-10 to 2500"  and those numbers should confirm a 350
