hood sits high with new hinges

All, I just started working on a truck that another person had and he took it apart without marking any of the previous locations. Doors were off hinges replace and I got the fenders back on meeting the side body line however when I place this aftermarket hood with new hinges the hood sits about 1.5 inches high. Do I need to take a rotary hasp and extend the hinge travel area so the hood would go down? I've got about 5 hours into realigning the front sheet metal but can't seem to get the hood to seat properly . It does fit inside the fenders without the hinges attached. When the hinges are attached and bolted with the springs the hood sits high. What am I doing wrong? I started aligning the doors first then went to the fenders then to the hood. Any help would be appreciated. The truck year make and model is a 1978 Chevy c10 long bed.

did you check the stops on the cowl panel? I had the same problem when i installed my cowl hood last week, took the rear stops out and hood sits flush now.

Yes their are no cowl stops.

Been doing many things over the past few days. I have come to the conclusion that I will rebuild my own hinges. Upon disassembly I found all factory rivets loose in the support locations. I also found that all rivet holes had not retained their original shape. The holes were elongated. The solution I attempted, was to drill out the existing 1/2" rivets and replace with 1/2 bolts. All rivet holes were enlarged from either 7/16" to 1/2". The total time for me to disassemble and then reassemble and paint was a little under 3 hours each side. Since they are now secure with no moment in the hinge rotation everything should be OK. I even enlarged and lengthened the two holes that allow for final adjustment. Just in case. I used locktight on all bolts to insure that they don't come loose I the future. I did use a brand of locktight that is able to be broken free with out damaging either the bolt or the nut. I have attached several pictures.

OK o I now rebuilt the hood hinges and guess what now I'm having issues with the hinges as being too tight. the movement of the hinges are way too tight . The hinges won't allow the hinges to rotate thru the open and closing of the hood. I think I need to reduce the tightness by backing off the hinge nuts. I haven't added any locktike yet. I will after I adjust the hinges. one other issue has poped up that I thought I solved the hinges are still sitting high on the windshield area. I think I know what to do and that is extend the slotted holes that are used for adjustment of the hood. Here are some pictures of what the hood look like after the rebuilt hood hinges. I think I still have some adjusting to do.

Can you push it down flat? Or is it being stopped by something?

I can push the hood down, so I'm going to try adjusting it this weekend.

If you are using bolts and nuts it won't work, you need a sholdered bolt and weld one side.
