Engine Compartment Upgrades. Function over Form
« on: September 04, 2013, 08:23:43 am »
Hey guys im loooking to dress up my engine bay. Im looking into upgrading the hoses, sparkplugs, Valve COvers, and breather. Right now in my summit cart I have Proform black Crinkle breather and valve covers with the black timing cover to be added at a later date,. Im also interested in purchaing the stainless steel spark plug wires made by Taylor. and possible upgrading all the Vac and Radiator hoses to stainless steel sleeving as well. This is not a show car but I want the engine compartment to atleast match the price I paid for my motor (383 stroker I have about $4000 total in the engine and drivetrain). My question is do the stainless steel wires and hoses offer enough upside to offset the cost, or are they mostly cosmetic upgrades? Also what can be done about the ton of crap left over from the smog stuff. I only plan on keeping A/C. I can upload pictures later, it really looks like crap.

I am not sure if the stainless steel hoses and wires give enough added benefit and durability to offset the cost, I guess that is personal preference.  It will however make it shiny and stand out, I believe that is what you are going for.
You can do a lot to enhance the looks of a engine compartment, it depends on how much you are willing to spend with time and money.

The stainless steel sleeving never looks good,......looks like an old lady's sagging stockings.
