Headers on my 87 4wd

Hey, I have a '87 350 4wd 700r4 and I want to put headers on it. I had a set of hooker super competion headers laying around for a sbc but when I put them in they ended up being right where the front diff is and the outlet port was pretty much right on the tranny crossmember and got in the way of the front driveshaft. So I'm looking for some headers that I know will work without having to modify anything. I'd prefer long tube but I will go with shorties if I have to. Ive done some searches but haven't turned up much.

I've looked around at different dealers and they all have headers that will work in my truck but I wasn't sure how accurate their application charts were. Just wondered what y'all know about this.

i think most of us have problems with headers laying around even if we buy them they always seam to get in the path of something. one thing you could do is heat the one up thats giving you problems and bending it to make it work. i know i had to do this on my 86 c10

I put these on mine and my only regret is not getting ceramic coated ones. I only had one issue and that is there the wires go through a steel tube and then to the starter. I loosened the bolt for  the tube moved the wires away and that was it. I know I got a pic or two somewhere I will try to post them. I didn't even have an issue with the rear shackles on the front springs.

found them and this reminds me that there was an issue and that was with the A/C mount. I used my di grinder to open up the OE bracket so it would fit around the primary tube.

Let me tell you that they don't look that good now and it's only been a little over a year. If you want them cheap then buy these and use vht header coatings to protect them.

Almost forgot. O2 bung...I also got a separate set of collector adapters 3" with a bung and soldered a slightly longer lead to it.

Thanks. I just bit the bullet and went to my local NAPA store and ordered a set of Hooker headers to my application. They bolted right up but I had to modify the shift linkage a little, move some wires on the starter, bend the dipstick tube. I'm gunna have to make a O2 bung on my collector adapter still but the installation worked well. I guess when you have the right parts thing usually work.

Get that O2 bung in and take her for a spin with open headers....I was amazed at how God she sounded but at the time I was living in the country surrounded mostly by farm land...Speaking of which My truck was actually sprayed in the repair shop of the co-op down the road from the house in TN. Glad you found waht you needed. I really wish I put a little extra money into mine so they wouldn't look as bad as they do now a year after install. Plus every time I work under the truck I get rust flakes in my eyes and mouth...never fails.
