How does the ash tray close on a 87 Chevy truck. Is there a spring to close the tray thanks

Springs hold the door closed.  Occasionally, they break.

There are springs on the side to load it in the up position.

Thanks I assume any standard springs would work can't seem to find them

unfortunately no, there is a spring on both sides and they are about .75" long (I don't have one out to measure exactly) and have bends on each end that latch into the opening and the tray.
