350 to 454
« on: September 26, 2013, 08:43:42 PM »
I've got an 80 2wd and a 454 short block from a 75 that I'd like to put in her. Just need to know what to use for motor mounts I've heard some people say use the ones from the big block other people say use the small block ones and I've even heard something about using a combination of the 2 id really like to know what works or works best/easiest? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks'

If you pulled it from a donor use what came with it.  It isn't easy finding 454 mounts, and the SBC ones will work.

If you have the mounts that came with the 454 use them.

The small block mounts will work but when I tried it my 7 blade clutch fan wanted to rub the bottom of the big block fan shroud.

I just removed the 454 out of a 1987.  I also removed the frame mounts and noticed there were spacers on it approximately 3/16".  All the frame mounts I have removed over the years none had the spacers but this was the only 454 I've removed.  I will check my 85 C20 and if they have the spacers, I'll post a picture, but either way I post the results

I replaced my 305 with a 454 in my 85 k10 and I had to use the mounts from  the 305. The ones that were on the 454 would not allow one side to line up.
