lower rear of 85 with spring hangers on front of springs?

Can this be done?

Its on an 85 GMC 1/2 ton

I've been looking at rear lowering shackles and saw where you could also use "lowering spring hangers" on the front of the rear springs for additonal drop.

I'm just wanting about 2" - 3" drop in the rear, and it seems that it would be much easier to do it with the spring hangers in lieu of the shackles.  

If it would work, then I wouldn't have to hack the bed rail like I would if I went with the shackles.

Anybody ever do it this way?

Yes, you can use the hangers to lower the truck.
