1980 headlight experts where ru ?
« on: October 04, 2013, 12:18:50 pm »
Recently came across a 1980 crewcab 4WD dually "second owner" it had round headlights, I was under the impression that 1980 had the first year of the square headlights. Was this a split year "thing"? What gives......

If I remember correctly, rectangular headlights for 1980 were standard on Silverado models, and optional on other trim levels.  1980 was the last year for round headlights.  In 1981 the front body clip changed and all models had rectangular headlamps.

Here is a link to a site that displays original showroom brochures so you can verify that.

1980 was a transition year, 1979 all top of the line trim models recieved the square headlights.  In 1980 at the beggining this was the same.  Later ones all got square, some base got round.
