My projects/drivers
« on: October 24, 2013, 11:20:50 pm »
I have several projects going right now, and I did just sell my 81, but I figured I would include it anyway since it was freshly departed.

My 74 C10 Cheyenne Super- Just picked it up, shortbed, fleetside, loaded for 74. Has power steering, power brakes, tilt
factory cruise, A/C, 350 2 barrel, TH350, 12 bolt. I haven't been able to read the option tag yet, it's underneath the cruise servo. and it has some goofy foglight on it, and the weirdest thing is the dual tanks. They're not the standard saddle tanks, it has one on the right side, and a rear mounted tank, where the spare should be. The switch for the tanks is below the steering column. I'll get more detailed pictures of the weird stuff later. The PO was even nice enough to include a good column to replace the busted one, and all new weatherstripping throughout. Runs and drives, needs exhaust, but I only gave $1400 for it.

Next up is the 81 C10 Scottsdale- Another strange one, the original owner ordered it as a stripper, with tilt wheel, and then they added dealer installed A/C, and dealer installed cruise control. They towed it behind their motor home, it was in pretty good shape when I got it, and then I replaced the weatherstripping, and the rubber floor mat, replaced the broken column, rebuilt the front end, ball joints, and resealed the trans. I only gave $900 for it, and drove it for two years, then sold it last week for $2500.

Then there's the Mommy wagon 90 V1500 Suburban Silverado- I bought this for my wife, she drives a carpool of kids from our sons school, so she's always picking up 4 or 5 kids from his school. So I wanted something nice and big, without worrying about the kids tearing it up. So far I rebuilt the engine, added a roller cam, rebuilt the trans, resealed the transfer case, rebuilt the front brakes, repacked the wheel bearings, had the exhaust done front to back, rebuilt the entire A/C system. the interior is still like new, which is amazing for 23 years old. It was previously owned by two older couples, and they took amazing care of it, it has 168k on it, but almost all the mechanicals are now new. I only paid $1500 for it, and even with everything I've done to it I've still only got $4500 total in it, including purchase price. I still have to add a 6" lift, some 37" tires, 14 bolt rear, and Dana 60 front, crossover steering, big bumpers, and paint it.

Well, that's about half of my projects. I hope to completely finish one of them someday!

Nice projects, I am particular to 74 myself.

The weird thing is, there used to be some kind of stripes on the hood, I'll have to see if I can get a picture of the outline. Maybe it was a spirit of America version or something. I haven't decoded it yet, I'll have to remove the cruise servo before I can read the tag.

Just a quick update on a 3 year old post, I finished the 74, and it was so popular, I ended up selling it. Here's a video link to the whole project. https://youtu.be/E7orahs4F_0
