well got it all done in the engine bay and started up today, only thing that went wrong was return line for the p/s had a hole in it, and need to wire up the relay to unlock the tc when the brakes are pressed tomorrow, put the hood back on and wait for my parts to put the 14 bolt in place out back.

After getting all the cost for the rebuild on the 4l70e as much as it would have been convenient to have the auto od i just couldnt justify 3500 for it, 700 original price plus 2800 turnkey build out the door.
Found a 95 nv4500 2wd chevy trans for 400 bucks, already ordered the 4x4 main shaft, output shaft, 4x4 extension housing, and slave cylinder. will get the flywheel and clutch, and pedal assembly this week. just rather go with something i know will work after all the problems with the 470e. But few pics of the trans.

well finally got the nv4500 back from the rebuilders, have been gone during the week and only home for maybe 38 hrs on the weekends so hard to get work done on the k5, had five days off for thanksgiving and rained the whole time so couldnt work on it do to not having a garage again, but got the 4l70e out last weekend.

the np241 will be stored in the garage along with a gm 10 bolt front axle i scored for 80 bucks for the sas swap in my k1500.

also got the flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate mounted last weekend before i had to head out again.

bell housing mocked up to check clearances, may have to switch to a different pan later on for the slave cylinder but have to wait for it to get in before i tackle that hurdle.

Got the nv4500 installed today, cut the trans hump to fit the shifter, will be bending the np208 shifter to allow the nv4500 shifter to clear,

my buddy will be bringing the np208 over saturday and going to get it installed to measure the front drive shaft, rear im waiting untill i get the 14 bolt put in out back,  and have to figure out where to mount the master push rod on the z bar pedals i bought awhile ago.

Which photo?

and got more done to it today. got the trans tunnel pulled to trim it slightly more, picked up my np208 from my buddies house, installed, need to get a longer drive shaft or just wait to install the 14 bolt when the disc brakes finally get in for it.

got the old light bar on last week also, figured id run power to it again and will be mounting an led light bar behind the billet grille as the ac stuff has been removed until i can find a few parts to get it back on and retrofitted for the 5.3

another update for the day, after running around to 5 different junk yards found one that had a late 80s era wrecker with the sm465 and got the pedals from it for a whopping $20 bucks but had to pay 10 extra to use their tools as my dumb :( forgot my 1/2" and ratchet at the house but ended up with a set of hydraulic pedals instead of paying almost $400 on ebay for a set

got the np208 shifter back in and hooked up along with my awesome temporary shifter, a.k.a jack handle

then got the pedals installed, still need to move the gas pedal over to the right some, bore out the brake booster linkage slightly to fit the new pedals, and re install the steering column.

well burnt up my unibit trying to make the brake booster rod large enough to fit over the hydraulic pedals, so will get at it with the dremel in the am,  did get the slave installed just barley as it has a hair between it and the electrical connector on the oil pan, picked up some hole saws to drill out the firewall for the master cylinder tomorrow, and contacted bryan from bd turnkey engines and am sending out the ecm on monday to get reflashed for free for the manual trans and removing the tuning for the automatic.

small update, still waiting to get teh ecm back from bd for the manual tune.
Got the slave master hooked up

Steering column back in, might pull it when and if i can find a manual column

got the shifter and boot installed

its a close fit to the t-case shifter but can easily get into 5th and reverse.

still needs some tweeking but thinking about modifying the np208 housing and running it but not sure yet

need to get it finished up and get my k1500 back and on the road as i decided to go back to wrenching instead of driving, will miss driving but being home with the fiance and kids is more important in life right now.

and ill post a teaser pic of the next project. since the c10 i cant touch till my brother gets me the title.

picked up a set of axles as they were the closest, better half told me no to the set with 4.10s and true 14bt ff a little futher away,  only needed it for the front axle, still have the 14bt ff in my garage with new pearches, shock mounts, etc.

got the tank ripped out along with the cruddy 12 bolt.

got the sf 14 bolt in for temporary along the the diy4x shackle flip. was 10 times eaiser after i went and bought a compressor and air chisel

the shackles on it are just temporary until my new ones come in from diy4x

and cruddy night  side shot of it with all completed wish i could have kept my pro comp rims but that wont happen and shows how badly it needs paint
need to pick up my conversion u joint tomorrow, bleed the brakes, and re install the fuel tank and lines.

all im waiting on now is my crager wheels for the front, need to find somewhere that has the fuel filler tube in stock nearby to get the tank in tomorrow and do a few shake down runs on it.

Got temp plates on it today, got the exhaust done at a shop up the road, cleaned all the "stuff" that was stored in it, got the oem mirrors i bought awhile back installed.

Things that need to be done this week: pull the old e-brake cables and put blazer cables on it, find a relay for the headlight harness, pull the sunroof and silicone under it, find a  overflow resivor cap, figure out the slight miss on heavy acceleration. get new shackles on.

oem mirrors.

his and hers, need to get the spare off the yukon so it wont match the k5 rim colors.

and pep boys crappy shackle on the driver side
