Air ride problems, like leaking, ride quality, etc.

Hi all....Well i have been in the market thinking of getting a full air ride system for my 81 chevy short wide....the only thing is i have heard some stories and issues about this setup....i have a friend that has a 1998 Dodge Dakota that has a full air ride system on it but every time i ride with him and he hits a bump and bottoms out ur gut fills like it fell to the floor.  I have had a truck that had a rear flip kit and was dropped in the front...and that was the worst ride quality i have ever been in....i was just wanting to get some opinons, problems, or issues with air bags suspension.  Any help would be helpful thanks

if it rides like crap, then it was done wrong. if it leaks, then it was done wrong.

all of the members in my club have their trucks bagged, plus i know a ton of other people with bagged trucks. some ride like caddys, and some dont. some have leaks, some don't.

an air ride setup is something you don't want to cheap out on, you will have a ton of problems if you get cheap parts (aim industries) you also have to keep everything maintained, especially the compressor.

Ditto on what Shaved said.  If it rides like crap, it wasn't installed correctly.  Unlike a dropped suspension, there is maintanence involved with a air suspension.

I agree w/ shaved & roundedline ,I"ve had my airride on my 85 sb for 5yrs rides great but you got to mantain its just that simple ..roll low ...drag hard..toby
