Paint tranny cooler???
« on: November 10, 2013, 07:26:25 pm »
Thought I would ask!!! I recently replaced my tranny, & added an external tranny cooler under front grille. The problem is.. The tranny cooler color is silver! I want to repaint the area under grille along with the radiator & tranny cooler. Will this be OK? i.e.:affect  the cooler in a negative way!

A light coat of paint won't really hurt anything.

I believe there are paints made especially for this application; I've mainly used the semi-gloss Krylon or Rustoleum.

We use a coating on air conditioning condensers and coils for equipment installed in salty and chemical laden environments called ElectroFin. It is extremely durable, and will outlast the equipment its applied to. Something to look into.
