Suspension Lift??????
« on: December 19, 2013, 02:43:06 pm »
I have a 1986 Chevy K10 4x4 and I'm planning to put a suspension lift on it. I have 37x14.5 toyos on 15x10 rims. Anyone have recommendations on what suspension lift to buy. (I prefer no body lift). Any pics would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

couple things to know...

is it going to be used for offroading or just street and dirt roads?

do you mind a little trimming on the fenders or going to keep the stock look?

are you planning on changing you gears or keeping stock?

do you mind having an add-a-leaf in the rear?

if you will be using it offroad you might want to think of upgrading the axles.  if its for street use you will be fine.  gears will help with your gas mileage especially if you had a high gear set to begin with.  trimming depends on if you want a 6" lift or a 8" lift.  what ever you decide do not put blocks on the front for lift.  the add-a-leaf will give a bouncy ride unload.

The truck will be mainly for street and a little off road nothing major, and I'm looking to keep the stock look of the truck. The gears are 488 and looking for a good set up hopefully with a comfortable ride. Want to see any recommendations as far as going straight springs front and back, add a leaf or blocks and some good shocks to go with it.

I only went up three inches, with the Tuff Country EZ-Ride setup.  They are pricey, but I love it.  Handling and ride are both much improved over stock.

You only get what you pay for, and sometimes less.

If you are not wanting to hack up the fenders I recommend an 8" lift. 6" won't be enough to clear 37s.

I had Skyjacker softride springs. I loved them. If building another street monster the Skyjackers would be my only choice.

like said you need 8" to clear 38s with no rub BUT then you need new driveshafts.
