Finally have time to say Hi to everyone.
« on: December 21, 2013, 08:59:50 pm »
I just wanted to say hi, since I've been lurking in the shadows for a while now. I've logged on and read post off and on for the past 6 months. You all seem to know what your talking about, so I feel I've found a good place to get some help. Just so everyone knows up front, I have been rebuilding Fords for several years now. A friend of mine had to get rid of his 74 Chevy C10 pickup because of where he lived, so I brought it for $250.00. It has a lot (I mean a LOT!!) of rust and the guy he brought it from didn't fix any of the rust. His idea of body work was to just put on a patch panel and spray foamed everything. I'm guessing I will put about $2500 - $3000 into it (less paint) to get it back on the road. That doesn't include labor, but I enjoy doing this type of stuff, so it's not really work. Like I said, I'm a Ford man, so I hope you all can forgive me when I ask some of the questions I'm gonna have to ask.

Thanks for the welcome. Most have been trucks, I restored two F150's and a Ranger. As for cars, I've did a lot of work on my brother-in-laws 66 Mustang and a 68  Mustang that had to be sold before it was finished. I also helped a friend completely restore his 31 Model A Ford. In addition to Fords, I restored my own 70 Dodge Dart and assisted on a 71 Cuda.
I also use to work in a shop (My Neighbors) where we raced a Charger stock car, that thing had to be put back together every week. I guess, that's how I got started in working on cars, it didn't have to look good, it just had to stay together and keep running when someone hit it. But we did manage to win a lot of races with it.

Welcome from California.  I know there is a lot of die hard Chevy fans here, but there are also those who like others.  I personally like a lot of different vehicles, it depends on the model and year.
My Daily driver is a ford edge, but I love the 73 -75 Chevy trucks to restore.  Have any pics of your truck ?

Here's a few of it when I first got it to the house in July. Right now I have it stripped down to just the frame, the suspension, and the motor. I was going to pull the motor last fall, but unfortunately I messed up my shoulder and will have to wait till I heal back up. But if everything goes on schedule, I hope to have the motor pulled, the suspension taken apart, and the frame stripped/blasted and refinished by spring. Then I can start on the cab and bed repairs.

Howdy from Oklahoma.  Have you taken photos of the teardown and rebuild process to date?  We all love to see photos.
